Police Log: Warrant Sweep, Auto Thefts, Naked Man on Beach

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log Jan. 13-14. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY, JAN. 13

Auto thefts — Vehicles were reported stolen from the 2800 block of Windsor Drive and from South Shore Center.

Auto burglaries — Thieves broke windows on two vehicles and stole various items. The incidents happened in the 2100 block of Otis Drive and the 700 block of Atlantic Avenue.

Petty theft — A package was stolen from the front porch of a home in the 2700 block of Otis Drive.

TUESDAY, JAN. 14

Auto theft — A vehicle was stolen from near the corner of Mecartney /road and Island Drive.

Auto burglaries — A purse was stolen from a locked vehicle parked in the 2900 block of windsor Drive. In a separate incident, a thief broke the window of a vehicle parked in the 900 block of Marina Village Parkway and stole various items.

ID theft — Someone used an Alameda resident's debit card information to buy several items online. In a separate incident, someone used another Alameda resident's personal information to open a credit account and make a purchase. In a third case, information was used to make unauthorized purchases at Kohl's department store.

Bike theft — A bicycle was stolen from the 200 block of Central Avenue.

Petty theft — A license plate was stolen from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Alta Vista.

Warrant arrests — Alameda police conducted a city-wide "warrant sweep," arresting five people with outstanding local or outside arrest warrants.

Psychiatric hold — Police took a man into custody for psychiatric evaluation after the man was seen walking naked on the beach along Shoreline Drive shortly after noon.

Possible carjacking — Police are investigating a possible carjacking incident at Alameda Point. The vehicle was later recovered in Oakland.
