Police Log: Wrong Place to Pee, Purse Snatching, Injury Accident
Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from Sept. 5 to Sept. 8. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 5
Not the best place — Police contacted a 26-year-old man when he began to urinate on the side of Alameda police headquarters at 1555 Oak St. about 1:45 a.m. The man was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant from another jurisdiction and was taken into custody.
Auto theft — A vehicle was reported stolen from the 300 block of Broadway.
Arrest — Robert Martinez, 34, was arrested on an outstanding warrant after a traffic stop on Willie Stargell Avenue about 2:20 p.m. Police said Martinez had a suspended driver's license. A search of his vehicle found suspected methamphetamine and a concealed rifle as well. Charges include being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, police said.
Burglary — Several items were reported stolen from a garage in the 1200 block of Paru Street.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 6
DUI arrest — A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after a 2 a.m. traffic stop in the 1200 block of Park Street. A passenger was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.
Small boat theft — A dinghy was reported stolen from the 1500 block of Buena Vista Avenue.
Auto theft — A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1300 block of Pearl Street
Residential burglary — A thief entered a home in the 1600 block of Seaborne Court through an unlocked garage and stole a variety of items.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 7
Robbery — Someone approached a female victim from behind near the corner of Santa Clara Avenue and Chestnut Street about 2:15 p.m. and grabbed her purse. A companion with the victim tried to intervene and was shoved to the ground.
Auto theft — A vehicle was reported stolen from the area of Paru Street and Santa Clara Avenue.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 8
Burglary — Items were reported stolen from a storage unit in the 1800 block of Webster Street.
Injury accident, DUI arrest — Sokgheata So, 26, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after a collision near the corner of Park Street and Lincoln Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. Police said the driver and a front-seat passenger in the other vehicle were both injured in the collision.
