Police Warn Residents: Car Thefts on the Rise in Alameda

Police ask residents to report suspicious behavior to help deter crime.

Information submitted by Alameda Police Nixle Alerts:

Automobile thefts have increased throughout the City and County of Alameda. Suspects are targeting almost every vehicle brand and model, but Honda Civics and Accords are stolen more often.

Most vehicles were stolen during the evening to early morning hours. Vehicles are stolen every day of the week with more frequency on the weekends. Ensure your vehicles are locked prior to leaving and park in well lit or secure areas. Anti-theft devices such as alarms can be helpful when activated, but do not guarantee your vehicle will not be targeted.
