A carjacking suspect was arrested following a pursuit that shut down Interstate Highway 880 near the Oakland Coliseum Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Police spotted a car near 37th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way at 1:52 p.m. that had been reported stolen in a carjacking several days ago, police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said.

The suspect fled from police, who pursued the suspect onto I-880, Watson said. The chase didn't end until the car drove to just south of the Coliseum.

The entire highway was shut down as the suspect was arrested, police said.
