Robber Takes Purse From Woman's Front Door, Knife Brought on Campus, and Identity Thefts

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from Feb. 26 to Feb. 27. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Wednesday, Feb. 27

  • 6:54 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 800 block of Pacific Avenue.
  • 7:43 a.m.: Burglary vehicle was reported on the 2200 block of San Antonio Avenue. A suspect broke the vehicle's window and stole an item from inside.
  • 11:05 a.m.: A burglary was reported on the 3100 block of Mecartney Road. A suspect entered a classroom and stole two purses.
  • 11:43 a.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 1600 block of 6th Street. A victim reported that a suspect used the victim's personal identifying information to open an account.
  • 12:24 p.m.: A robbery was reported on the 2200 block of Santa Clara Avenue. A suspect approached a victim at her front door, put his arm around her shoulder, demanded her purse, grabed her purse from the ground and fled.
  • 1:45 p.m.: A felony was reported on Encinal Avenue. A suspect was arrested for bringing a knife onto school campus. 
  • 6 p.m.: A garage burglary was reported on the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue. A suspect gained entry into a victim's storage closet by unknown means and stole a television.
  • 5:48 p.m.: Forgery was reported on the 2200 block of Otis Drive. A suspect entered a bank and presented a check to a teller to cash. The teller verified the check was fraudulent and called APD. The suspect was cited.

Tuesday, Feb. 26

  • 8:22 a.m.: Identity theft was reported on 9 Ennis Place. A suspect used a victim's personal information to open a gas and electricity account without his permission.
