Police Log: Robber Uses Pipe to Simulate Gun, Employee Embezzlement, and Auto Thefts

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from May 14 and 15. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Tuesday, May 14

  • 3:14 a.m.: A robbery was reported on the 1500 block of Lincoln Avenue. A suspect used a pipe to simulate a gun and demanded victim's belongings. Victim and suspect physically fought and suspect fled with loss.
  • 8:20 a.m. Auto theft was reported on the 1100 block of Rosewood Way. 
  • 8:04 a.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 1100 block of Island Drive. A suspect fraudulently obtained a victim's bank account and used her ATM card number. 
  • 9:14 a.m.: Commercial burglary was reported on the 1300 block of Harbor Bay Parkway. Suspect entered the business, took loss and fled.
  • 5:40 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 2600 block of Encinal Avenue. A suspect attempted to gain entry into residence through a partially opened window by removing the screen.
Wednesday, May 15
  • 7:52 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 400 block of Buena Vista Avenue.
  • 8 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1700 block of Arbor Street.
  • 8:54 a.m.: Embezzlement was reported on the 1100 block of Harbor Bay Parkway. A suspect was employed by the business and repeatedly embezzled money entrusted to her for payroll.
  • 3:14 p.m.: Shoplifting was reported on the 2200 block of South Shore Center. A suspect entered a business, selected and concealed three neckties in his backpack and exited the store without paying. He was cited.
  • 6:52 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1200 block of Santa Clara Avenue.
