Sex Offense, Shoplifting and Arson

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from April 29 to May 1. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Monday, April 29

  • 12:44 p.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 1800 block of Clinton Avenue. A suspect used a victim's credit card number without consent, and purchased Metro PCS minutes.
  • 3:39 p.m.: A robbery was reported on the 300 block of Santa Clara Avenue. One suspect talked to victims while another grabbed the victims' phones from their hands.
  • 6:15 p.m.: Burglary was reported on the 2200 block of Buena Vista Avenue. A suspect entered an apartment's community laundry room and stole coins from the dryer.

Tuesday, April 30

  • 9:11 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 400 block of Sand Beach Road.
  • 12:19 p.m.: A sex offense was reported on Central Avenue. A suspect grabbed a victim's hair, pushed her down, and forced her to have oral sex with him.
  • 7:58 p.m.: Arson was reported on the corner of Pearl Harbor Road and Barbers Point Road. An unknown suspect lit a small brush on fire by unknown means.

Wednesday, May 1

  • 12:07 a.m.: A narcotics arrest was made on the 1300 block of Broadway. The arrested was contacted during traffic stop in a vehicle that fled the scene of a disturbance.The arrested was  found to be driving under the influence of alcohol as a minor and driving without a license. During search of vehicle incident to arrest and tow, the arrested was found to be in possession of suspected MDMA capsules and weighted sap gloves. The arrest was made without incident.
  • 8:36 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the corner of Pacific Avenue and Arbor Street. 
  • 11:25 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 800 block of Haight Avenue. 
  • 12:45 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 2600 block of Orion Street. An unknown suspect entered a victim's unlocked and unattended residence, took her purse and fled the scene.
  • 3:27 p.m. Shoplifting was reported on the 2200 block of South Shore Center. The suspect entered the business and concealed several cans of baby formula in large bags, then fled without making an attempt to pay.
  • 3:37 p.m.: Forgery was reported on the 800 block of Taylor Avenue. A suspect forged the signature on victim's checks.
  • 4:59 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 200 bock of Santa Clara Avenue. A suspect stole a washer and dryer from a garage.
  • 7:48 p.m.: Shoplifting was reported on the 2500 block of Blanding Avenue. The arrested selected items from business and left store without paying for them. The arrested was also found to have been convicted of prior thefts with time served. During a booking search, the arrested was found to have suspected Methamphetamine on his person.
