A 30-year-old Alameda man was apparently one of two people killed in a deadly crash on Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland early this morning (Monday), according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Officer Daniel Hill said the man's age and address were determined from his driver's license. The man was driving a BMW 750li involved in the collision.

The Alameda County Coroner's Office is expected to release the Alameda man's name and that of another man killed in the accident later today, Hill said.

According to the CHP, the BMW was traveling north on I-880 at a speed estimated between 100 and 110 mph when it the rear of a semi truck also driving northbound.

The BMW overturned and jumped over the center median wall into the southbound lanes, the CHP said. The BMW collided with a Chevrolet sedan and a Honda SUV before coming to a stop.

CHP officers and Oakland Fire Department personnel were unable to reach the BMW and Honda to provide emergency medical aid because of the extent of the damage, according to the CHP.

The drivers of the BMW and the Honda were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the CHP said. The driver of the Chevrolet complained of pain and was transported to a local hospital.

The accident was reported about 12:50 a.m. on southbound I-880 between Fifth and 10th avenues, the CHP said.

All southbound lanes from Oak Street to 16th Avenue were closed for more than two and half hours, the CHP said. All lanes were reopened about 5:30 p.m.

Anyone with information pertinent to this incident is asked to contact the CHP Oakland Area Office at (510) 450-3821, or the CHP's non-emergency public access number at 1-800-TELL-CHP (1-800-835-5247).
