Large Brawl and Stabbing at Scobie's Sunday Morning

Alameda Police responded to the call around 12:25 a.m. of an assault with a weapon at the local sports bar located at 2431 Central Avenue. This is not the first time the bar a violent incident break out.

A large fight broke out at Scobie's Bar and Grill Sunday morning that resulted in a stabbing.

According to the most recent Alameda Police log, officers responded to the call around 12:25 a.m. of an assault with a weapon at the business located at 2431 Central Avenue.

The report said a large fight of 40-50 people took place in front of Scobie's bar, where multiple victims were punched and kicked in the face by several suspects.

Responding officers found a 22-year-old El Cerrito man who was stabbed six times in the back lying across the street from Scobie's. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries according to Lt. Ted Horlbeck of APD.

This isn't the first time a violent incident has occurred at the bar. On March 18 of this year, two men from Oakland were sent to the hospital after being stabbed outside the bar.

Since this incident, Horlbeck said APD has created "directed enforcement operations" in the area. "As of late things got quiet," he said.

Sunday's stabbing was "a mess" he added.

"It puts a huge drain on resources," Horlbeck said, as all working officers had to respond to the incident that morning. "We are also looking into working with ABC [Alcohol Beverage Control] to see if there have been complaints."

Horlbeck believes alcohol played a role in Sunday's brawl along with previous incidents at the bar. He said APD will continue to have officers actively monitor the area.

Lt. Ted Horlbeck of APD said this is an ongoing investigation and any one with further information should call 510-337-8340.
