Suspects Attempt to Rob Victim of Jewelry, Several Car Thefts and Burglarized Vehicles

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from Jan. 28 to Jan. 30. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Wednesday, Jan. 30

  • 7:29 a.m.: A burglary vehicle was reported on the 700 block of Haight Avenue. 
  • 9:58 a.m.: A burglary vehicle was reported on the 1800 block of 3rd Street. A suspect broke the vehicle window, entered the vehicle, took the loss and fled the area.
  • 11:05 a.m.: A commercial burglary was reported on the 2300 block of Blanding Avenue. A suspect pried open the business' storage shed and stole gardening and power equipment.
  • 5:52 p.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 300 block of Tideway Drive. An unknown suspect opened a credit card account in the victim's name without her knowledge or permission.
  • 5:24 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 1500 block of Mound Street. The suspect entered the victim's residence through a rear unlocked window, took several items, and fled.

Tuesday, Jan. 29

  • 4:09 a.m.: A 23-year-old man was arrested on the 1300 block of Versailles Avenue for narcotics. He was contacted after the report of a suspicious person running in the area screaming. He was found to be intoxicated and unable to care for his own safety. He was also found to be in possession of suspected concentrated cannabis.
  • 5:06 a.m.: Officers attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a suspect at the 800 block of Haight Street. The suspect failed to yield and led officers on a pursuit into Oakland. The pursuit was subsequently terminated due to the danger of the suspect's driving posed to the public.
  • 6:17 a.m.: A burglary vehicle was reported on the 1200 block of South Loop Road. A suspect broke the window of the victim's vehicle, gained entry and fled without any loss.
  • 7:51 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1400 block of Page Street.
  • 7:38 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1300 block of Marin Village Parkway.
  • 9:09 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1200 block of Eagle Avenue.
  • 4:22 p.m.: Grand theft was reported on the 2000 block of Santa Clara Avenue. The victim left his laptop computer on the church counter top on accident and returned to find it missing.
  • 5:32 p.m.: Forgery was reported on the 2200 block of Otis Drive. A suspect attempted to cash a forged check.
  • 6:53 p.m.: Fraud was reported on the 1600 block of Morton Street. A suspect gained a victim's s bank account information and made several unauthorized purchases.
  • 5:21 p.m.: A commercial burglary was reported on the 2400 block of Central Avenue. A suspect entered the business through an unsecured skylight and takes cash from register.
  • 9:02 p.m.: A burglary vehicle was reported on the 1900 block of Webster Street. A suspect smashed the window of a vehicle and stole a laptop and purse that was left in plain view.
  • 9:40 p.m.: A robbery was reported on the 1500 block of Buena Vista Avenue. Suspects approached a victim as he approached the front door of his residence. One suspect simulated having a handgun and demanded property from the victim. The suspect attempted to remove the necklace from victim's neck. The victim then struck the suspect with a broomstick. The suspects ran to a waiting vehicle and fled.
  • 8:19 p.m.: A burglary vehicle was reported on the 1600 block of Park Street. A suspect used an unknown tool to shatter the front passenger side window of two vehicles in a parking lot. The suspect removed and stole items from both vehicles.
