Threats and Brandishing a Firearm, Wedding Ring Thief, Shoplifting, Robberies

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from March 28 to March 31. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Thursday, March 28

  • 11:51 a.m.: A woman made a report to police on the 1000 block of Fontana Drive that someone may be entering her residence without her permission and taking and moving her property around.
  • 9:22 p.m.: Burglary was reported on the 1800 block of Poggi Street. An unknown suspect cut the lock off a victim's storage unit and fled. The victim reported no loss and the suspect is unable to be identified.
  • 9:55 p.m.: A commercial burglary was reported on the 600 block of Central Avenue. A suspect entered a public laundromat and broke into an ATM machine. As witnesses called APD, the suspect ran out the front door without any loss. The suspect ran down the street and got into a vehicle driven by another suspect. An area check was conducted which ended with negative results.
  • 10:06 p.m.: Grand theft was reported on the 2000 block of Clinton Avenue. A suspect took a victim's cell phone from the victim.
  • 10:07 p.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 300 block of Fair Haven Road. An unknown suspect used a victim's identity to obtain airline tickets.
  • 11:28 p.m.: A 40-year-old man was arrested on the corner of Oak Street and Blanding Avenue. He was contacted during an enforcement stop and found to be in possession of burglary tools and narcotic paraphernalia. He was booked.

Friday, March 29

  • 2 p.m.: Assault was reported on Cypress Street. A 46-year-old man was cited for approaching a victim and attempting to punch the victim in the face but missed. The victim detained the man until police arrived.
  • 7:52 p.m.: An injury accident was reported on the corner of Otis Drive and Mound Street. Evidence was submitted to police.
  • 7:21 p.m.: Grand theft was reported on the 2000 block of Clinton Avenue. An unknown suspect took a victim's wedding ring and fled the area.

Saturday, March 30

  • 9:55 a.m.: Auto theft was reported in the first block of Regulus Court. 
  • 4:47 p.m.: Shoplifting was reported on the 2200 block of South Shore Center. A 20-year-old man was cited. He entered a business and selected merchandise. He concealed the merchandise and walked out of business without paying. He was detained by store security. He gave a false name to a police officer.
  • 7:23 p.m.: Outside agency assist was reported on the 4400 block of Moraga Avenue. Oakland Police requested assistance with a police K9 to search a residence for a burglary suspect.
  • 8:21 p.m.: Robbery was reported on the 1600 block of Webster Street. A victim was riding his bike when unknown suspects stopped him and asked to use his phone. The victim gave his phone to one suspect to use and then another pushed the victim causing him to fall. The suspects then fled the area with the loss.
  • 10:30 p.m.: A 32-year-old man was arrested for threatening and intimidating a victim on the 2200 block of San Antonio Avenue. He made threats to kill a victim. He pointed a firearm at the victim while passing by him in a vehicle. The man was placed under arrest for criminal threats and brandishing a firearm.

Sunday, March 31

  • 12:06 a.m.: A burglary vehicle was reported on the 2500 block of Blanding Avenue. A suspect broke a window to a vehicle and took off with the loss.
  • 12:53 p.m.: A suspect took a package from a victim's front porch on the 2500 block of Lincoln Avenue.
  • 1:21 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1900 block of Chestnut Street. 
  • 4:20 p.m.: A robbery shoplifting occurred on the 2200 block of South Shore Center. A 34-year-old woman was arrested. She and a suspect entered a business and concealed items. She and the suspect passed all points of sale and exited the store without paying for the items. When confronted by loss prevention, a victim was punched in the face by the suspect and bitten on the arm by the woman. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and the woman was detained by the victim. She violated the terms of her probation and provided false information to police.
  • 10:23 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1500 block of Lafayette Street. 
  • 11:57 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue. A suspect gained entry into a victim's residence by shattering the rear sliding glass door. Suspects took several watches and fled the area.
