UPDATE: Motorcycle Fatality Shuts Down Constitution Way for Several Hours

Michael Gordon, 50 of Alameda died at the scene after striking a pole while riding his motorcycle Thursday morning.

An Alameda man was killed after riding his motorcycle into a pole near Marina Village Parkway and Constitution Way this morning, according to the Alameda Police Department.

The man, identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau as 50-year-old Michael Gordon, was involved in the crash, which was reported around 6:45 a.m. according to Lt. Ted Horlbeck of Alameda Police Department.

Arriving officers found the motorcyclist suffering from serious injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Horlbeck said. He added that no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The cause of the fatal crash is under investigation, according to Horlbeck.

The fatal accident shut down Constitution Way to northbound traffic from north of Atlantic Avenue up to Marina Village Parkway just after 2 p.m.
