Two People Robbed at Gunpoint While Fishing Near Harbor Bay Ferry

The robbery took place before dawn on Sunday, Jan. 19

Two people fishing near the Harbor Bay ferry terminal on Bay Farm Island were robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning, an Alameda Police Department spokesperson said.

Lt. Jill Ottaviano said the anglers had returned to their vehicle to unload some equipment about 3:15 a.m. when two other vehicles pulled up.

A man with a gun got out of one vehicle and ordered the anglers to turn over their wallets, which they did, Ottaviano said. Then the robber threw a cement block at the victim's vehicle, shattering a window, she said.

The armed robber and his five companions fled with the wallets, she said.
