Victim Chases After Cell Phone Robber, Commercial Burglaries and Identity Thefts

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from March 5 to March 6. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Wednesday, March 6

  • 11:43 a.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 1000 block of Walnut Street. An unknown suspect used a victim's debit card number to make unauthorized purchases online.
  • 12:36 p.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 500 block of Centre Court. An unknown suspect used a victim's social security number to obtain a state tax return.
  • 3:24 p.m.: A robbery was reported on the corner of 3rd Street and Santa Clara Avenue. A suspect grabbed a victim's phone from his hand as he was making a call. The victim chased the suspect and tackled her. Another suspect punched the victim several times. The first suspect displayed what the victim believed was a handgun. Both suspects fled the scene.

Tuesday, March 5

  • 9:42 a.m.: A commercial burglary was reported on the 1200 block of Harbor Bay Parkway. A suspect entered a victim's building through an unsecured door and removed copper wire and furniture from inside.
  • 7:52 p.m.: A commercial burglary was reported on the 800 block of Marina Village Parkway. An unknown suspect broke into a locked business. The suspect used an unknown tool to break into the safe and stole cash.
