Victim Stabs Suspect During Home Invasion Robbery
Police say the stabbing, with a kitchen knife, was done in self-defense after one of the robbers attacked a female victim.
A robbery at an Alameda residence Friday, Nov. 1, left four people in police custody and one suspect hospitalized with stab wounds, Alameda police said.
Investigators are still searching for two more suspects, according to Lt. Jill Ottaviano of the Alameda Police Department.
Ottaviano said the two groups — three robbery victims, about seven suspects — appear to be acquaintances. The robbery may be part of an ongoing dispute among some of them, she said.
The incident began between 7 and 8 p.m. Friday when a group of men and women forced their way into a residence in the 100 block of Brush Street.
The robbers took the contents of a purse and cell phones, and one suspect, a woman, began battering a female victim, police reports say.
The victim stabbed her attacker with a kitchen knife in self-defense, and the injured suspect was later taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland for treatment, the reports say.
Ottaviano said the injured woman is recovering in the hospital.
Four suspects were arrested at the scene, while two more fled and are being sought by police, Ottaviano said. All of the stolen property was recovered, she said.
