Police Say Woman Fatally Burned at Redwood Regional Park Believed to Be Suicide

Coroner's officials have not yet released the name of the 48-year-old woman, who is believed to be a San Lorenzo resident.

The fatal burning of a woman at the entrance to Redwood Regional Park in Oakland Saturday night is being investigated as a suicide after an autopsy Tuesday found no signs of foul play, East Bay Regional Park District police said.

The woman, believed to be a 48-year-old San Lorenzo resident, was found at the Skyline Boulevard entrance to the park at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released.
 
The investigation is ongoing, however, an autopsy conducted by the Alameda County coroner's bureau discovered no evidence of foul play or other injury, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call East Bay Regional Park District police at (510) 881-1833.

What a horrible way to die. Poor baby must have been suffering from mental illness to choose to end her life that way.

There's those out there who are bound to leave this world in a blaze of glory (no pun intended...), but there's nothing too spectacular about the selection of this park. It shouldn't have taken too much imagination to think of someplace a little more interesting. According to the news reports, there doesn't appear to be any witnesses or spectators to this weenie roast, so what's the point, anyway?
