A national magazine ranking government websites awarded Alameda County’s online portal a first place prize Tuesday. Judges at Government Technology magazine’s Center for Digital Government deemed acgov.org the best website in the County Portal category in this year’s Best of the Web contest.
The magazine wrote that acgov.org is “a good example of how a significant amount of information can be presented cleanly and intuitively within a main website, mobile website and mobile apps.”
Here’s more from the county press release:
Over the past year, Alameda County has spearheaded the creation of several innovative mobile apps to make key government services more accessible than ever. These apps include a Mobile “My Voter Profile” app that allows registered voters to quickly review all aspects of their voter status; and a recently published Mobile Property App that allows users to quickly obtain a wealth of information about any property in the County and pay their property tax.
In addition, Dupuis said Alameda County has hosted two Hackathons in recent months, and that some of the apps created during those events have been integrated into the County website.
“We are using the latest tools that technology has to offer and tapping into some truly innovative ideas from our own staff and from the residents of our community,’’ he said. “Taken together, I believe we are coming up with new ways to engage our residents and to deliver services more efficiently than ever.’’
