Bay Farm Bike Path Repairs Scheduled

Expect construction next week, Aug. 6-10. Cyclists will be able to use the pedestrian path while work is going on.

From a City of Alameda announcement:

To improve bicycle access on Harbor Bay/Bay Farm Island, the bike paths along Veterans Court, Island Drive, and Mecartney Road will be repaired from Aug. 6 to Aug. 10. Construction hours are between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Damaged sections of the bike path that have been raised by tree roots will be replaced with a paved ramp. During construction bicyclists will be directed to use the adjacent pedestrian path; the impact on cyclists is expected to be minimal.

Notices, placed on barricades at locations where the repair work is to be performed, will be posted 72 hours before the work commences.  The Homeowners Associations, adjacent to the project, will also be notified 14 days before construction begins.

Questions about the project should be directed to the project engineer, Trung Nguyen at (510) 747-7943.

Is there a way to find out if and when Harbor Bay Parkway will be resurfaced along the golf course? I've noticed other streets(Verdemar) that were recently repaved even though the road seemed fine. However, Harbor Bay Parkway has been totally neglected and it's frequently used to bypass Island Drive, particularly during school hours. Just wondering.

Awesome! Rode my bike over there to get to the Golf Course, and it was pretty unsafe to ride since the path is dark and it was hard to see the bumps and cracks in the path.
