Brief Power Outage Friday Caused by Mylar Balloons

Roughly 2,500 central Alameda residents lost power this morning.

Approximately 2,500 customers lost power briefly this morning when Mylar balloons crossed a power line.

The outage occurred at 10:16 a.m. Customers between Clement Avenue and Otis Drive and from Paru Street to Lafayette Street lost power. Some additional customers lost power in adjacent areas.

AMP's backup system kicked in and power was quickly restored. Line crews then patrolled the lines and made the necessary repairs.
