Change of Command on Coast Guard Island, Alameda
Wednesday was a beautiful day for a transfer of leadership ceremony.
Alameda Patch caught the action earlier this week as outgoing Coast Guard Captain Keith J. Turro said goodbye to Alameda's Coast Guard Island and a new captain, Gary S. Spenik, took over the leadership of the Base Support Unit, Alameda.
The Coast Guard's change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition for transfering leadership that is conducted before the assembled company of the command.
