City Manager Responds to Complaint about Lincoln Pool Gates

John Russo says the Alameda Swimming Pool Association has agreed to keep the pool gates shut or have them closely monitored.

I want to thank Hilarie Atkisson for the issue of the open gates at Lincoln Pool.

Ms. Atkisson's persistence in this matter prompted yet another conversation between the city and the group that leases the facility, the Alameda Swimming Pool Association (ASPA). As a result, representatives of the ASPA have assured the city that from now on, the pool gates will either be locked or closely monitored by the volunteer lifeguards.

In addition, they have promised to remind their members of the importance of making sure that the gates are secured and the site is safe for both swimmers and park users.

I hope that Ms. Atkisson will let me know if there are ongoing problems so that I may address them immediately.
