Community Input Needed By June 10 on CalTrans’ Rehab of Posey Tube

The City has asked that CalTrans provide a safer environment in the tube for pedestrians and bicyclists.

The Alameda Planning Board, Transportation Commission, and City Staff have asked CalTrans to provide opportunity for further public review of the plans for their current project to rehabilitate the Posy Tube.

Information about the project and where to comment is available here:   http://alamedaca.gov/public-works/posey-tube-retrofit

Specifically, the City has asked that CalTrans provide a safer environment in the tube for pedestrians and bicyclists.

They have responded with a proposal to replace the current railing with a new one that is, specifically, mounted at the edge of the pathway. This provides for an additional one and a half inches of clearance.

The current guardrail can be seen here: http://alamedaca.gov/sites/default/files/document-files/existing_condition_0.pdf

You can submit your opinions to CalTrans at: http://alamedaca.gov/public-works/posey-tube-retrofit
