Chinese Sister City visiters come to Alameda

The Alameda Sister City Association will be hosting
visitors from Jiangyin, China tomorrow in the Council Chambers
from 9AM to 10AM. Mayor Gillmore, Councilmember Tam and City Manager John Russo
will greet our guests as well as Mark Sorenson, Vice President of ASCA and
Alameda Chamber of Commerce President and other representatives from ASCA. Stewart
Chen, ASCA member and Alameda Hospital Trustee will facilitate and translate
the meeting. Attending the meeting will also be

The history of the Alameda
Sister City formation includes:

2005: A delegation from Wuxi,
China visit Alameda and establish a Friendship City

2005: Wuxi extends an
invitation to Alamedans to join their International Sister City Forum

2007: Cities of Wuxi and
Jiangyin host a dlegation from the City of Alameda which included the Mayor and
all City Council members as well as many members from the Social Service Human
Relations Board

2008 and 2010: China Flag
Raising Ceremonies in the City of Alameda

2008: Jiangyin and Alameda
become formal Sister Cities

2011: Feb 3 is declared Lunar
New year Day in the City of Alameda
