Fruitvale Bridge Community Meeting

The Alameda County Public Works Agency and Supervisor Wilma Chan will be hosting a community information meeting on Thursday, May 5th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Aeolian Yacht Club located at 980 Fernside Boulevard to discuss the upcoming project to seismically upgrade the Miller Sweeney (Fruitvale Avenue) Bridge.

The retrofit project will require the temporary closure of the Fruitvale Bridge to marine traffic between October 31, 2011 and March 2, 2012.  The project will alternate between closing to marine traffic for twelve days and operational for marine traffic for nine days.  The bridge will also be operational for marine traffic between December 24, 2011 through January 1, 2012.

There will be no impact on vehicular traffic on the bridge.  The meeting is intended to inform the community about project construction and the closure schedule and elicit input.
