Hospital Board Elections: Who's In, Who's Not

Voters will be choosing two City of Alameda Health Care District directors. Only one person has taken out nomination papers so far, according to the Alameda County Registrar of Voters.

Voters will be selecting two City of Alameda Health Care District directors. The current terms of board members Jordan Battani, incumbent board president, and J. Michael McCormick, incumbent treasurer, expire this year.

Stewart Chen, D.C., the board's second vice president, has taken out nomination papers for the Alameda City Council race. If he wins a council seat, that would open up another spot on the health care district board. In that case, though, the Health Care District Board would appoint someone to fill out his unexpired term, according to district clerk, Kristen Thorson. The board would have 60 days after the vacancy occurs in which to appoint a director.

The health care district operates Alameda Hospital.
