Kevin Takei is New Park Supervisor for Crown Beach

Takei has worked for the East Bay Regional Park District since 1986.

As the new park supervisor Crown Memorial State Beach, Kevin Takei is responsible for the park's operations, which cover the 2.5-mile beach, the Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary and the Crab Cove marine reserve and visitor center.

Takei started with the East Bay Regional Park District in 1986 as a park ranger for Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline in Richmond. He then became the park's gardener and, in 2002, the park supervisor, a position he held until transferring to Crown Beach this summer.

"Operating the largest public beach on the San Francisco Bay is no small task," said Doug Siden, who represents Alameda on the board of directors of the East Bay Regional Park District. "I'm sure the park will be in good hands under Kevin's leadership."
