Pinole's Rec Director Resigns for Alameda Job

Amy Wooldridge has resigned her position as head of Pinole's Recreation Department to take a similar position in the City of Alameda.

, the department head at the Pinole Recreation Department, has resigned and will become the Recreation and Park Director for the city of Alameda.

Wooldridge told Pinole Patch Friday that she submitted her resignation on Monday and her last day on the job will be April 27. She has worked in the recreation department for 12 years, starting as youth services coordinator. She has led the department since 2005.

Alameda has not yet officially announced Wooldridge's appointment. City Manager John Russo said Thursday that the appointment will be announced at the Alameda City Council meeting on April 17.

Wooldridge will replace Dale Lillard, who has officially retired from his position as director of Alameda's Recreation and Park Department and is presently serving in a temporary capacity until a new director is in place.

Wooldridge has overseen the Pinole Youth Center, Pinole Senior Center, Tiny Tots child care, the Pinole Swim Center and numerous community-wide events.

Last year the that the recreation department become "budget neutral," meaning that it would have to pay for itself with fees, donations and fund-raising.

Since the department budget's designation as an enterprise fund, Wooldridge has to bring the department to the brink of self-sufficiency.
