Planning Board OKs In-N-Out Design, Nixes Gas Station Beer and Wine Sales

Designs for three buildings and two signs at Alameda Landing got board members' approval.

Alameda's Planning Board gave a thumbs-up to the design of three buildings at the Alameda Landing "gateway" site Monday night but rejected a request to sell liquor at one of the buildings, a Safeway gas station, according to an article published this morning (Tuesday) on The Alamedan website.

The buildings also include a Chase Bank branch and an In-N-Out Burger. (You may read more about their design and see architects' drawings of the proposed buildings in "Alameda Landing Gateway: Retro Designs Go to Planning Board Tonight.")

All three are located on a 2.3-acre parcel tucked between Webster Street and Wille Stargell Avenue, adjacent to the larger Alameda Landing shoppig center now under construction.

The board also approved revised plans for two signs on the parcel, the article said.

In rejecting Safeway's request to sell beer and wine at the gas station, board members cited an earlier decision when they denied a similar request from another Webster Street service station, The Alamedan reported.
