Special Council Meeting to Evaluate City Attorney

The Alameda City Council will meet in closed session Tuesday to give a performance evaluation of City Attorney Janet Kern.

It's performance evaluation time at City Hall, and City Attorney Janet Kern is in the hot seat at Tuesday's special closed-session city council meeting.

and is under a three-year contract with an annual salary of $190,000. As city attorney, Kern provides legal representation and advises city officials on all legal matters. She also represents Alameda in state and federal court and oversees outside counsel handling other litigation.

  • A conference with legal counsel regarding anticipated litigation for one case.
  • A conference with labor negotiators regarding wages, hours, benefits and working conditions for the city clerk. Agency negotiators are Councilmembers deHaan and Johnson.

Public comment on agenda items will be allowed at the beginning of the session, with a maximum of three minutes per item.

The Alameda City Council will hold a special closed session meeting on July 24 at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at , 2263 Santa Clara Ave. A regular, public meeting will follow at 7 p.m.
