Home prices in Alameda will rise between 8 and 10 percent, according to a study done by an online real estate site.
The site, zillow.com, predicts home prices in 244 of the 245 ZIP codes in the Bay Area will rise in 2013. The only exception will be the 94515 area in Calistoga, according to a story in the San Francisco Chronicle.
The story says the biggest reason for the projected price increase is a lack of homes for sale on the market.
In Alameda, homes in the 94501 zip code are predicted to jump 10.4 percent in 2013. It's one of 27 Bay Area zip codes projected to have a double-digit increase.
Forecasters at zillow.com say the median home price will rise from $577,000 to $637,000 this year in that zip code.
The higher price will still be 18 percent lower than the peak price there. Home prices in the zip code bottomed out in the first quarter of 2012.
In the 94502 zip code, zillow.com predicts home prices will rise 8.2 percent. The median price is expected to jump from $598,000 to $647,000.
The higher will still be 19 percent lower than the peak price. Home prices in the zip code also bottomed out in the first quarter of 2012.
