Here are the median rents for one bedroom, two bedroom, three bedroom and four bedroom residences

If you are looking for a rental unit in Alameda, be prepared to pay between $1,400 and $2,400 a month, depending on what you need.

The median monthly rent right now in Alameda for all sizes of condominiums and homes listed through real estate agencies is about $1,650, according to the multiple listing sources that local agents use. It does not include owner listings on sites such as craigslist.

Here are the median rents in Alameda for different size residences.

1 Bedroom:  $1,395
2 Bedroom:  $1,700
3 Bedroom:  $2,037
4 Bedroom:  $2,325

An example is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium at 950 Shorepoint Court. The residence is listed as renting for $1,850 a month.

Rachael Hand, a broker associate with Coldwell Banker, said rents are on the rise in part because people who have gone through short sales and foreclosures are renting because they cannot currently qualify for a home loan.

I pay under the highest amount listed here for a one bedroom on the south shore of Alameda ;) Now I feel like I have a steal. Unfortunately, I'll never be able to afford to buy in Alameda ;_;
