The Least Expensive Home For Sale In Alameda

Check out this one-bedroom home that's selling for under $300,000

Whether a home is expensive or not depends on where you live and how much money you can spend.

The prices for houses in the East Bay have risen steadily this year.

The latest DataQuick figures show the median price in Contra Costa County is $437,000 while the median price in Alameda County is $590,000.

That may sound like a lot unless you live in San Francisco. The median price there topped $1 million a few months ago. In fact, the cost of owning a home in The City has convinced some San Franciscans to sell and move to the East Bay, where homes are a bargain by comparison.

With all this in mind, we thought we'd try to find the least expensive single-family homes in the community.

In Alameda, there's this one-bedroom, one-bathroom home at 453 Central Ave. that's listed at $250,000.

The 548-square-foot house is a short sale that was built in 1912 and is described as a "cozy, comfy, charming home."
