“Salute to Education is a unique opportunity for education colleagues and the Alameda community to come together in a relaxed, festive environment to network, share best practices and socialize,” said Bill Sonneman, AEF Board President. “We particularly invite the greater Alameda community to join us. Alameda has been so supportive of our schools and Salute to Education is a great opportunity for our community to learn about quality school initiatives throughout the Island and talk to school leaders all in one setting.”

2012 marks also marks the 30th anniversary of the Alameda Education Foundation. AEF was founded in 1982 by local community leaders for the purpose of supplementing educational opportunities for Alameda public school students.

Since that time, AEF has generated millions of dollars and thousands of volunteer hours for Alameda schools. To help celebrate its 30th anniversary, AEF has invited dignitaries, major contributors, educators, board members and other community members who have supported the Foundation over the years.
