Alameda Little League Game Reports Through May 22

Some rain, some shine, some baseball.

The Alameda Little League season is winding down, and soon playoffs will be upon us. Closing ceremonies will be on June 11. Game reports from earlier in the season can be found , , , ,   and .

Alameda Neuropsych Redwings, 8 vs. Law office of Bezemek & Kabob Central Thunder, 2: The offense was sparked by big hits from Griffin Calibach, Sean Cook and Thomas Goodman for the Redwings on May 18. Key defensive plays were recorded by Ben Byers, Andrew Jarecki and 2 shut out innings pitched by Cameron Thomas.

For the Thunder, Wylie Jordan hit a double in the 3rd inning. There was solid pitching in the 3rd and 4th innings by Ethan Maxim and Keelan Good. 

Alameda Neuropsych Red Wings, 11 vs. Staytooned Entertainment Mud Hens, 8: A four-run rally in the final inning allowed the visiting Red Wings to avenge an earlier loss to the Mud Hens and split the season series. Sean Cook led the offense with a booming three-run homer, his first of the year, and Jack Loudon reached twice and scored two runs as well.  Solid pitching by Cameron Thomas and Bobby Locklear helped to keep the Mud Hens at bay.

For the home team, Kanoa Cecaci-Gilliam reached twice and scored both times, and Arvin Enkhbold's triple plated two runs in a five-run second inning.  Daniel Wolfe made his pitching debut in the game as well.

Law Offices of Robert J. Bezemek and Kabob Central’s Thunder, 13 vs. Staytooned Entertainment Mud Hens, 8: Four Thunder pitchers combined to two-hit the Mud Hens and avenge an earlier loss in the process in a recent AA tilt. Dallas Rider reached base three times, scoring three runs, and Will Dodge had a perfect day at the plate as well, scoring two runs. Keelan Good, Elias Faizi and Omari Preston all pitched well for the Thunder, still in contention for a playoff spot.

For the Mud Hens, Daniel Wolfe reached twice and scored both times, and Chauncey Villagrana and Mitchell Tansey made their pitching debuts. Mike Harris and Eugene Gardner pitched solidly as well for the visitors.

Harvest Food Products Storm, 7 vs. Shooting Stars Diamond Jaxx, 4: On Tuesday, May 17, Diamond Jaxx's Spencer Koa smacked a double, later scoring on Trace Tega's double in the 4th inning. In the 6th, the team loaded the bases and made a valiant effort to tie the score, without success.

Storm's Torin Martin singled in the 2nd inning bringing in a run.  Christian Collins tripled bringing in Martin.  Stefan Schneider and Marcus Magallanez were key players in the final innings, scoring the final runs, to edge out the D Jaxx.

 Fruitt Yogi Muckdogs 17, vs. Baskin Robbins Alameda Scrappers, 4: Adam Krainer and Brendan Cook went 4 for 4 and scored three runs each to lead the Muckdogs. Jerick Griego and Jacob Price teamed up for a double play to end the first inning and then Price completed a double play in the second inning on a throw from Dima Gilchrist in left field. The Scrappers showed their defensive strength with Kyle Wonzon throwing a strike to Lukas Mann for an inning-ending double play in the fifth.  James Freeman made some timely plays while hitting 2 for 2.  Luke Wonzon ripped a triple in the bottom of the sixth.

Fruitti Yogi Muckdogs 15, vs.Wiley, Price & Radulovich LLP Raptors, 13: Adam Krainer and Ben Villanueva went 3 for 3 and Pete Celaya hit a triple to lead the Muckdogs. Sebastian Hurtubise made three outs from second base, Jerick Griego and Jacob Price combined for several timely outs, and Price threw a strike from center field to Adam Krainer at third for a tag-out as the Muckdog defense stymied the Raptors.   The Raptors showed potential with Adam Satin's fast sprints around the bases, Ian Ramos, Antonio Roblero and Max Hernandez's multiple RBI's and Justin Leung and Becca Lagerwey's top performances on 1st and 2nd.

El Caballo Wrap Rattlers, 8 vs. MXL Commercial Construction Bats, 3: With great fielding from Felix Garcia at 3rd and Max Ponssa at 1st, the El Caballo Wrap Rattlers slowed down the Bats preventing base runners from advancing. Clutch hits by Devon Casias in the 3rd and Ben Ratto in the 4th extended run scoring rallys. The team finished with 18 singles and a .600 batting average for the team. For the MXL Commercial Construction Bats, the offense was led by Sam Davis and Harry Gleischer both of whom had key hits to start innings. The field work of Joe and Griff Loughan along with Cooper Boyle stopped middle inning rallys from continuing.

Littler Mendelson Dodgers vs. Event Magic Marlins: On May 15 Marlins pitcher John Marshall and first baseman Scottie Rapposelli exhibited excellent team work to make a great play at first.  On offense Shea Cantrell smashed a triple. For the Dodgers Jonathan Schnoebelen made great plays from the pitcher’s mound, including two unassisted put outs at first. He also lined a single up the middle.  Jaden Patterson-Golay smashed an RBI single through the left side.  Marco Mora made some great defensive stops. Owen DeCourcy had two solid hits.

Tony’s Mobile Service Giants vs. Event Magic Marlins: On May 22 Marlins defense made some great plays on the field with a put out at first by Scottie Rapposelli and another at third by James Moore. On offense Leo McMahon had two solid hits. Aaron Norboe smashed a single up the center.  For the Giants, heads up fielding by Alan Hesse led to a spectacular tag at third.  Pitcher Nicolas Ignaszewski made two great defensive stops. Dylan Mochizuki got a put out at third. Tyler Lee and Benjamin Garcia each hit singles.

Rangers vs. Maureen Shandobil’s Rockies: It was another exciting weekend for Rockies baseball highlighted by Nathan “Bam Bam” Jamarillo’s Home Run. Max Stento, Avery Steuer showed great hustle along with all their teammates on the base paths.  Jack Johnston contributed a couple solid hits and Haileen Jamarillo had a frozen rope double up the middle. The Rockies defense continued to grow and featured Gordon Cunningham who tagged out a runner at home. All the players played great defense and made smart throws. 

The Maureen Shandobil Rockies vs. Littler Mendelson Dodgers: The Rockies offense was in sync led by Avery Steuer - 2 doubles & Matthew Lee - 2 singles (both showing great hustle), Max Stento, Eddie Onaga and Nathan "Bam Bam" Jamarillo with a near triple.  Christian Watkins and Cody Cunningham played solid defense with two good outs in the infield The Dodgers played great defense today with Miles Taylor and Jonathan Schnoebelen making several unassisted outs.  Evan Green ran down a hit in the outfield and made a great throw to Owen DeCourcy at third to get an out.  Micah Rezendez had a key hit in the 2nd inning.  Lee-John Majerus had great plays in the field and smashed an RBI single in the 4th.

 T-Ball

West Wind A’s vs AOG Cubs: The A’s were in top form in their game against the Cubs on May 22.  Dylan Watt started things off with a nice hit right up the middle.  Near the end of the game, McKinley Elter knocked a shot to deep right field, and Angus Olaes hit a line drive to the left side.  Defensively, both Mick Goddard and Hudson Taylor made great stops at second base.  The Cubs also made some great stops including two at second base by Pablo Vessali and Maddox McDonald.  David Gibbs caught a one-hopper and fired it to first base.  At the plate, Cole Aney hit a line drive to right field.
