Alameda Little League Game Reports Through May 8

Alameda Firefighters Local 689 Angels, 11 vs. Northridge & McGuiness Royals, 7: On May 5, after falling behind 4-0 in the top of the 1st, the Angels rallied with 5 runs to take a 5-4 lead. Devin Nash and Nolan Floyd each drove in a pair of runs in the rally. Each also had a pair of hits on the day. The Royals' Kyle Averitt hit a triple driving in two to tie the game at 7-7 in the top of the 4th, but the Angels Abraham Saikley drove in the go ahead run with his 2nd double of the day in the bottom of the 4th and also scored three times in the game.  For the Royals Augustus Moseley had a pair of hits including a triple and Ethan Lathon pitched over 5 innings of the game striking out 7.

DOER Marine Astros, 8 vs. Alameda Firefighters Local 689 Angels, 5: On May 7, the Astros built a 7-1 lead through 3 innings and hung on to win the game.  The Astros Sebastian Silva had a big game with a pair of hits including a homerun.  Will Avellar pitched well in relief pitching scoreless ball from the 4th inning on when he entered the game.  The Angels Gavin Richardson and Han Winchester drew lead-off walks in the 4th inning and both came around to score on a single by Devin Nash, but that would be the final runs of the day for the Angels.  The Astros Joshua Meadows also had a pair of hits, a run scored and an RBI and Charlie Konstantino drove in a pair of runs with a double.

Power Engineering River Cats, 6 vs. , 3: On April 27, the Mudcats' Max Turner hit a big triple, while Chioke Armstrong-Malloy got 2 hits in two appearances at the plate. Ryan Cibull led the River Cats defense with 3 great plays at second base. River Cats closer Kevork Hill struck out 5.  Mudcats Joey Whorley contributed with a great catch in centerfield. In the end, Elian Pelayo put the River Cats ahead for good with his second RBI on a double. 

Harvest Food Products Co., Inc. Storm, 12 vs. Stay Tooned Entertainment Mud Hens, 3: On Monday, May 2, the Mud Hen's Mitchell Tansey doubled in 2 RBI's and later stole 3rd base, in the 2nd inning. Closer Nolan Hughes struck out 3 in a row in the 5th inning. Storm's Torin Martin doubled in the 3rd, RBI'ing in 2 runs. Orion Ho reached 1st in the 4th, and later stole 2nd base. Catcher Aeneas Pardo later picked off the stranded 1st base runner, after he stepped off base.

Harvest Food Products Co., Inc. Storm, 6 vs. YSF Printing Rockhounds, 6: Saturday, April 30, Rockhound Ramit Guha doubled in the 1st to RBI two runs. Zachery Reese homered, for a solo shot, in the 4th. Samuel Silberstein tripled in 2 RBI's in the 4th, as well.

Storm's Kobe Kiener singled in 2 RBI's, and later stole 2nd. Fraser Meagher hit a high pop up, and was safe on the dropped ball, later crossing home plate. Aeneas Pardo knocked one to the outfield, RBI'ing in 2 runs.

Alameda Neuropsych Redwings, 9 vs. , 7: At the plate, Thomas Goodman went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs, Sean Cook and Liam Johnson Sandoval teamed up for extra base hits, and Bobby Locklear reached base 3 times for the Redwings on April 29. In the field, Ari Chertock pitched 2 scoreless innings and Eric Jarecki survived a collision at 1st base to complete a double play. 

The Hot Rods were led by Jonathan Atases who went 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles; and Quinn Tubiolo who went  2 for 2 with 2 singles 

The UPS Store Owlz, 6 vs. , 4: On May 5, the Owlz, Landon Marsh went 3-3. Tommy Igo, Derek Balaian, Mikey McNamee, and Lucas Christ all got 2 hits, and  Daylan Tanner and Brandon Limalso chipped in with hits for the Owlz.

 The Blue Claws rallied in the 5th by scoring an additional 3 runs. Shane Connolly went 2-2.  Eli Siltanen, Zachary Hester, Emmit Phinney, Dylan Corona, Sean Culberg-McClung, and Jordon Alba, who doubled, all got hits.

Encinal Market Blue Claws, 9 vs. , 6: On May 6, for the Encinal Market Blue Claws, Sean Culberg-McClung hit the team's first triple of the season. Jordan Alva displayed great agility as catcher. Zach Hester and Dylan Williams caught numerous fly balls. For the Sand Gnats, Stephanie Guitierrez drove in her second run of the season, Adam Hoepker made a diving catch in the outfield, and Sam Bilstein's great baserunning brought in a run for the Sand Gnats.

MXL Commercial Construction Bats, 13 vs. UPS Store Owlz, 9: Connor Bustos, Will Sariano-Roberts, Cooper Boyle, Joe Loughran and Dohnovan Gross reached base on all of their at-bats for the Bats. Griff Loughran managed an unassisted double play and Will Sariano-Roberts made all six outs at first base in the middle innings.  For the Owlz, Landon Marsh and Derek Balaian were perfect at the plate. Nathan Connick and Landon Marsh combined for an impressive putout at the plate.  Gavin Ruport and Paul Nguyen each made notable outs, as well.

Farm Ball

Maureen Shandobil's Rockies vs. Angel’s: It was another exciting weekend for Rockies baseball. Jack Johnston and Patrick Murphy were both awarded the game balls for making a great force out at home plate. The Rockies defense was excellent this week.  Sincere Buffin made a big out at 3rd base, Tate Johnson & Nathan Jaramillo both made excellent plays at first base.  Everyone on the Rockies had good hits led by Eddie Onaga, Cody & Gordon Cunningham along with Jason Johnston’s excellent hit up the middle in the 1st inning.  Great job Rockies!

The Littler Mendelson Dodgers were hosted by the Tim Marr of Harbor Bay Realty Yankees on Sunday, May 1.  The teams were playing hard with some timely hitting.  The Yankees were lead by Cameron Lee and Matthew Mainguy who both had RBI singles in the third inning.  Theo  Powell had a nice double in the second.  The Dodgers saw some brotherly love when younger brother Preston DeCourcy crushed a ball that scored big brother Owen.  Devin Kaneshiro had a nice hit that plated Diego Guerrero.  Lucas Holley made a heads up play at third, cutting down a Yankee with at the plate with Colin Ng making the tag.

The Littler Mendelson Dodgers hosted the Blue Dot Café Indians in a Mother’s Day spectacular that featured some incredible defense. The third inning was owed by Lucas Holley who made three incredible unassisted putouts at first base. There was some more fine defense up the middle with Owen DeCourcy teaming up with Jonathan Schnoebelen for a an out recorded, pitcher to second base.  The Dodgers’ third baseman, Micah Rezendez ripped a line drive that sparked a rally in the second inning.  The Blue Dot Indians were led Owen Conway and Dominic Wallis who had big doubles, while Zach Zimmerman and Cole Coker played strong defense from the pitcher position.

T-Ball

Supercuts Braves vs. West Wind A’s: In the game against the A’s on May 7, Amy Screechfield hit a line drive to right center field for the Braves, while Kelvin Joiner knocked a ball up the middle, and Evelyn Lancaster stole second base.  In the field, Celeste Hurtubise scooped up three ground balls and threw them to first,  For the A’s, Ben Webster had two great stops at first base, and pitcher Max Gerber made a diving stop and fired the ball home.  At the plate, Dylan Watt had a nice hit up the middle and really hustled down the line to first.
