Alameda Unified School District's Senior Class of 2014 Going to College, Military

As hundreds of seniors across Alameda Unified School District prepare for the end of their school year – and the conclusion of their K-12 education – they are also preparing for an even greater transition: to young adulthood.

Members of AUSD's Class of 2014 are moving on to a broad range of exciting options this summer and fall. The majority of seniors are going to four-year colleges, including all of the University of California campuses and most of the California State University campuses.

Others have chosen other four-year colleges and universities, including:

Many of our seniors have also chosen to attend community college, either to pursue an A.A. degree, a technical education, or a later transfer to a four-year university. Several have chosen to study abroad, including at Dublin State University and University of British Columbia. A number will begin their military careers, in the US Navy, US Marine Corp, US Air Force, and US Army.  Some are transitioning right into the job force. And one student has made the creative choice to spend a "gap year" studying wildlife rehabilitation in South Africa.

Awards, Scholarships, and Other Recognitions

The number and types of scholarships and awards received by our seniors this year is breathtaking. Those awards include: National Merit Scholarships, a Students Rising Above award, an Incentive Awards Program, a Young Distinguished Artist Award, and President, Dean and Chancellor scholarships at various schools.  Some students received "full ride" scholarships based on their artistic, athletic, and academic achievements.
