AUSD Seeks Members for Measure A Oversight Committee

Applications are available now and must be returned by Sept. 20.

From an Alameda Unified School District press release:

In March 2011, Alameda community members passed Measure A – a parcel tax to benefit the local public schools – by 68.01 percent.

One of AUSD's commitments is to maintain accountability and transparency with all expenditures of Measure A dollars.

A key component of that commitment is maintaining an 11-member Oversight Committee, made up of local community members, to review the district’s compliance with the terms of Measure A. (More information on those terms is available on theMeasure A page on the district’s website.)

Applications for the 2013-14 Measure A Oversight Committee (which will begin meeting in January 2014) are now available.

This committee meets three to six times, for two to three hours at a time, between January and December of each year. The committee’s work culminates in an annual report that is presented to the Board of Education in December.

For an application, please visit this page on the district website. Applicants can also call (510-337-7187) or stop by the district’s office (2060 Challenger Dr., Alameda). Translated versions of the application are available both on the website and at the district office.

Applications can be submitted via fax (510-521-0529); email (lkintanar@alameda.k12.ca.us); or dropping it off at the district office.

Completed applications must be received in the district office no later than 5 pm on September 20, 2013. Appointments will be announced on October 9, 2013.
