Solicitors knocking on your door, flyers left on your doorstep — what about a flock of plastic flamingos planted in your yard?
Yesterday, I came home to find just that. And, along with the mysterious flamingos, there was a note.
The Alameda High School Symphonic Band is raising money to go to a music festival in New York. With the flamingos came a request for a donation — and a request for an address for them to visit next. "The flamingos will be reflocked in 24 hours," the note read.
We tucked an envelope under the doormat. And, true to their word, the flock was gone by the next day's dinnertime.
Goodbye flamingos! Good luck band!
