Lincoln Lions Roar through Middle School Basketball Championships

Lincoln wins big, taking first place in three out of four games.

The Lincoln Lions swept the girls' division of the ’s Middle School Basketball Championships last week, while the boys' team split top honors with the Wood Middle School Beavers.

The Girls Championships were held March 2. In the A division, Lincoln outscored Wood 29-17.  Maddy Lewis scored nine points for the Lions, while Lisa Bertholdt and Megan Cvitanovic each contributed eight. Tatianna Kelly was the top scorer for Wood, with six points.

In girls' B team play, it was Lincoln over the Academy of Alameda Olympians, 35-20.  The Lions’ Lanae Lillard was responsible for 23 of Lincoln’s points, while the Olympian’s Meida  Tautalatasi was the top scorer for the Academy with eight.

In Boys A team action on March 3, it was Wood over Lincoln 58-40. Wood’s Matt Canalin scored 17 points (15 of them from 3-pointers), while Ben Tanner contributed 13 and Deep Singh added 11.

On the Lincoln side, Ryan Wong provided the Lions with 20 of their points and Nels Bergeron was responsible for 12.

In Boys B team play, the Lions once again reigned with a 37-29 win over Wood. Lincoln’s Bryce Duncan helped out with nine points, and Angel Munoz and Antonio Riley contributed eight and seven points, respectively. Wood’s Jullen Ison kept the Beavers in the game with 14 points, while Aaron Kees scored 10.
