Geronga was an active volunteer at Lum Elementary according to principal Cammie Harris. Harris said Geronga often offered to chaperon the students on field trips and was known as "the mom who made the best lumpia."

David Hoopes, lead facilitator at ACLC said it was clear to see how much of a devoted mother Geronga was.

"She's a model parent who's always been available, supportive and present," he said.

Both children have been attending school since Monday according to Harris and Hoopes.

"[Abero is] holding up really well. He seems anxious to get back to his routine," Harris said.

"[Yoare is] obviously emotional but she's been attending all her classes and being really strong," Hoopes said.

Lum's PTA has set up a fund on the family's behalf. Harris said those interested in contributing can drop off donations at the school office — just make sure specify that it is for the Geronga family. Make checks payable to Lum School PTA and add "Geronga Family" to the notes section.

Hoopes said ACLC is currently working on setting up a trust for the family.

Lum Elementary is located at 1801 Sandcreek Way. The office number is 510-748-4009.
