Play Ball! Alameda Education Foundation Middle School Basketball Playoffs on Deck

Playoffs begin February 19th with championships next week

The Alameda Education Foundation Middle School Sports basketball playoffs begin Tuesday as the #1 seed Academy of Alameda Boys A team takes on #2 Lincoln.  The Academy will face 4th seed ACLC/Nea (a combined team) to determine who goes to the championships on February 26th.  That team will face the winner of Thursday’s playoff game between #2 Lincoln and #3 Wood. The Boys B team follows suit with the same end-of-season ranking.

In the Girls A division, undefeated Lincoln will take the first step towards defending their title when they take on #4 ACLC/Nea on Wednesday.  The winner will then play either #2 Wood or #3 Academy depending on who comes out ahead in Friday’s playoff game.  In the Girls B division, Lincoln is also undefeated, but the Academy ends the season ranked #2 while Wood is #3.

The playoff games between the #2 and #3 seeds in both Boys and Girls divisions should be particularly exciting this year, according to AEF’s Athletic Director, Marty Garchar.

Tuesday’s games will take place at the Academy of Alameda middle school.  The B game begins at 3:45 pm followed by the A game at approximately 4:45. Wednesday’s games will take place at Lincoln Middle School and follow the same schedule.

Thursday and Friday’s playoff games will be at the Alameda Boys and Girls Club as will the Championships on Feb. 26th and 27th.  A complete schedule of playoffs and championships may be found here.

All are invited to come and enjoy these exciting games.  The student-athletes have worked hard all season would love your support.  Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.  All gate fees help support AEF’s Middle School Sports program.  AEF also runs co-ed volleyball in the fall and track & field in the spring.  More information about the AEF sports program may be found on the AEF website.
