Tickets Available Now: Alameda Education Foundation’s 'Salute to Education'

What do the science program at Earhart Elementary School, a mini-farm at Haight Elementary School, a school choir at Maya Lin, a “go green” effort at Lincoln Middle School, a teen-parenting program at Island High School, and the Measure A Oversight Committee have in common?

They are all being honored at the Alameda Education Foundation’s annual “Salute to Education” celebration on April 25, 2014.

The event, which will take place at Rhythmix Cultural Works this year, celebrates innovative educational programs in Alameda public schools. This year’s Salute will include live music by the Alameda and Encinal jazz combos, food by Café Q, local wine and beer, and posters honoring teachers, staff, and volunteers from across the district who create and sustain wonderful programs for children in our public schools.

“This is one of my very favorite events in Alameda,” says Kirsten Vital, superintendent of Alameda Unified School District. “To see the hard work and creativity that is honored at the Salute to Education renews and inspires me every year.”

There will also be a raffle featuring the newest iPad mini, a premium wine collection, an ultra-premium spirits collection, and other prizes.

“I’m so pleased to go to this event every year because I can see and feel the high level of commitment to the students of this community,” says Bill Sonneman, president of AEF’s board of directors. “It brings together the many amazing people in this district who devote time, energy, and resources to helping children learn and succeed.”

Where: Rhythmix Cultural Works (2513 Blanding Avenue)

Event Tickets: $30 in advance. Purchase online at www.alamedaeducation.org.  All tickets include one drink ticket and a commemorative wine glass.  

Raffle Tickets: $10 per ticket / $50 for 6 tickets. Raffle tickets may be purchased prior to the event at the AEF Office, 2200 Central Ave., Suite B.  

Call first to make sure staff is there – 510-337-7189.  You do not need to present at Salute to Education to win.
