Crab Cove & Bay Ecology: Teaching the Teachers

How do teachers spend their summer vacations? Some teachers spent it learning about gobies, mud crabs, ghost shrimp and lots more creatures in their week of science fun!

Teaching science took on a whole new meaning for educators who attended a week-long training offered through Crab Cove's East Bay Educators Academy.  Geared up in hip waders, they seined the Bay shoreline to find what swims beneath the surface and collected mud samples to take back to the lab to see what lurks in its depths. Find out more about their week at this link to my KQED QUEST blog. Then come on down to Crab Cove one of these nice, summery days to see if you can discover some of the things the teachers found. Free weekend programs or one of our paddling programs can help - find out more at our East Bay Regional Parks website!

Also, if you're a teacher, our deadline for requesting fall school programs is Monday, Aug. 6. You can access our request form at this link.
