Alameda Attack Girls Lacrosse Team Now Second in Their Division

In its first official season, the girls' team reached a #2 ranking in the 23-team U13 division of the Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association.

Alameda Attack's U13 girls' team won one game and tied the other in their final games of the season last weekend, bringing their record to 11-2-1.

Alameda Attack 10, Firehawks 5

In a well-matched contest against the Penninsula-based Firehawks, Alameda Attack's Rebecca Rochlin scored three goals, Marina Ramsey scored two goals, and and Kacy Stoddard, Skylar Herrera-Ross, Austine Topacio, Phoebe Brand and Danielle Simpson each scored one. Those goals, combined with the strong defense by Brooke Tyler, Teagan Waterloo, and Caila Devlin — plus the excellent passing and midfield transitions by Cristina Navarro and Becca Eggart — brought the Attack to victory in their first game of the day.

Alameda Attack 5, Diablo Scorpion Dyamite 5

By the end of the first half, Phoebe Brand had scored the only goal against Diablo's three and the last game of the season was looking grim. But in a stunning turnaround during the second half, Madison Murphy made two goals and Phoebe Brand made another, bringing the score up to 4-4.

The Scorpions pulled ahead with a goal late in the second half and appeared to be trying to run out the clock. But in the final minute of the game, Danielle Simpson grabbed the ball during an errant Scorpion pass, raced down the sideline, then passed it to Kacy Stoddard, who passed it to Bella Vick, who passed it back to Stoddard, who then slammed the ball into the Scorpion's goal in the final second of the game.

This tied the game for good and secured the Attack's position as second out of 23 in their division in the Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association. Playing goalie, Savannah Hallgarth saved ball after ball during this game and showed great heart against the Scorpions' repeated shots on goal.
