Alameda Girls Softball: Game Reports through April 10

Founded in 2003, Alameda Girls Softball celebrates girl power at the plate, on the mound and in the dugout.

The season is in full-swing. If you didn't catch Alameda Patch contributor Jesse Sternburg's , check it out. Below are the game reports through April 10. Stay away rain!

Under 6

WebAssign Blue Dolphinsvs Wind River Bumblebees: The buzz in the Bumble Bee dugout was the WebAssign Blue Dolphins’ hitting and fielding was amazing. Sarah Freeman had two strong hits and an unassisted out at third playing shortstop. Cami Restagno also had two big hits and while playing pitcher in the second saw a lot of direct action that required attention and skill. The mighty Blue Dolphins played strong and played well.

Little House Café Little Angels vs. Ross, Sinclair & Associates Lucky Charms:The Little Angels played their best game of the season in an action-packed thriller.  Isobel Seeley and Nora Jensen led the Angels on offense with two hard-hit grand slam home runs.  On defense, Siena Balaian and Caroline Phinney guarded the plate at the Catcher position and Helen Doyle stopped all the grounders in the middle of the infield.  The Angels showed the true meaning of teamwork and hustle and everyone had a great game!

Bayside Specialty Construction/Dr Johnson & Jolley Clover Dragons 0 vs. Fruitti Yogi Blue Diamonds 10: Again the Clover Dragons exhibited team spirit and pride as they played the Blue Diamonds.  Kayla Chang  and AbbyRose Conner were great pitchers who are really improving their form with each game.  Hannah Robins, Kelly Carlson, Vicki Anderer and Kiera Moore maintained their focus in the outfield and swung hard at bat.  Maddie Mersch, and Kate Hockensmith kept a positive attitude and helped their team with great offensive play.  Both teams were well practiced and positive for today's game!

Carroll Construction Lightning Bolts 4 vs AdvancedHealth Chiropractic/Law Offices of Scott Hennigh Royal Dragons 0:Natalie Mesterhazy struck out the side in the 1st inning and also hit a nice triple bringing Tori Eichel and Olivia Low home. Zoe McCampbell hit a double and Jordyn Moore a triple giving the Bolts four runs in the 1st. Alexis Cantley, Chloe McMann Chapman and Katie Cheung all had hits, but the pitching from the Royal Dragons did not allow more runs.

Harbor Bay Realty Blue Dynamite  2 vs Coast Guard Chiefs Firecrackers 3: A last minute rally wasn’t enough to put the Blue Dynamite on top in this well-matched game. The Firecrackers led 3-0 going into the last inning when the Blue Dynamite decided it was time to get serious. Elizabeth Ekern and Katherine Legg got the rally going with back to back singles and were batted in by Lauren Gaughan and Madeline Roorda. Defensively, the Dynamite were impressive with Fiona Rogers and Sydney Watt making fantastic catches for the out.

Bay Area Children’s Theatre Purple Lightning 0 vs. Citizen Canine Black Magic 2: In a very intense game against the Black Magic, the Purple Lightning battled hard. Megan Stiling made a great stop at third base to keep the Black Magic batter to a single. Casey Stoddard had three amazing plays, she caught a fly ball then threw to first base for a double play. As catcher, Casey threw out two Black Magic players as they were trying to steal, once at second base and once at third base. Bea Levy had an impressive 5th inning striking out all three batters. 

Citizen Canine Black Magic (2) vs. Purple Lightning (0): An overall great defensive game by both teams. 9 combined strike outs between pitchers Mariah Moore, Sophia and Mira Piamonte and 5 fantastic defensive plays, one of which was a pick off of an attempted steal from 2nd, who was thrown out by catcher Lauren Lum at 3rd. Amy Grimm and Cheyanne Rios each drove in an RBI.

Dr Johnson and Jolley Royal Dragons 3,vs Citizen Canine Black Magic 0: The Royal Dragons extended their winning streak with seamless defensive teamwork and an aggressive hit and run offense.  Pitchers Jemma Thorpe and Bella Vick combined for 14 strikeouts. Vick and Emani Vaughn doubled in the first inning and singled in the 4th.  Excellent defense by Chantel and Araceli Zavala-Sheridan and Kayla Reyna rounded out the team effort. 

The Alameda Orthopedic & Sports Therapy Green Energy 9 vs Coast Guard Cutter Aspen Blue Nost  Pitbulls 3: Green Energy was on fire today. Kimble helms first inning double set up Lizzy Avery’s RBI triple. In the second Naomi Ladenburg got things started with a lead off walk, her first of three. Chiara Stiger drove home the 4th run of the inning with a 2 out double. Olvia Reising made her Pitching debut in the 3rd striking out 2 batters.

Bay Area Children’s Theatre Purple Lightning 8 vs McDonald’s Central Demon Dogs 8: The Bay Area Children’s Theatre Purple Lightning had a very exciting game against the McDonald’s Central Demon Dogs that ended in a tie. The Purple Lightning had some terrific at bats with singles from Vivi McKee, Ella Duchesneau and Annika Stenstedt. Pitcher Briana St. Denis and Bea Levy recorded nine strikeouts combined.   

12U/14U

Law Office of Paul Mahler/McDonald’s Shoreline Hot Ice 15 vs. Piedmont Titans 1: Hot Ice started off putting 4 runs on the board.  Tatiana Kelly smacked a ball out to left field for her 1st homerun of the season.  Samantha Shaffer had a double play followed by a tremendous throw down from Meida Tautalatasi to catcher Sally Parsons holding the Titans to 1 run and end the inning.  Great pitching by Dominique Barrs, Tatiana Kelly, Meida Tautalatasi & Valerie Sheridan with a total of 7 SO’s.

Winzler & Kelly Kryptonite 5 vs Linda Avery PhD Flaming Cheetos 0: The Flames repeatedly got runners to 3rd but great Kryptonite defense prevented them from scoring.  The Flames also played outstanding defense with Mikayla Wong throwing out a runner at 3rd from center field, a great catch in right field by Hannah George, and Jackie Smith ending the 6th inning by catching a fly in right field and doubling off the runner at 1st.  Lily Wilmot pitched a terrific game, with 6 strikeouts and 4 scoreless innings.

Piedmont Semi-Aggressive Dinosaurs 12, Linda Avery PhD Flaming Cheetos 1: The Flames were overmatched by Piedmont's 12U tournament team in Rec League play, despite a strong team effort.  Victoria Avery belted a triple and scored, but the Dinos sealed off the plate after that.  Helen Montell-Weiland stole a pair of bases after working a walk, and Lily Wilmoth and Maura Willow pulled off a perfect double steal - all sadly for naught.
