Alameda Girls Softball: Week Ending April 22

The girls are really in full swing, with a week full of RBIs, doubles, triples, strikeouts and great defensive plays

8U Division

Linguini's Red Flames 6, US Coast Guard Petty Officers Golden Gate Chapter Mad Batters 6

A beautiful sunny day provided the backdrop for a red-hot game between the Red Flames and the Mad Batters. Olivia Brune was all smiles as she got her first RBI, and was awarded the game ball. Talula Wilmot and Charlotte Daly both had great games with solid second base hits. In the third, Katy Hosokawa had
a great RBI allowing Stella Cashin to score the tying run.

M Zoe Couture Green Hornettes 15, Linguini's Red Flames 0 (make-up game)

The Hornettes put together a strong win against the Red Flames. Kamryn Beene had a powerful double to start the scoring trend. Samantha Garrett followed up in the 2nd with an impressive single RBI. Radiate Lathon showed off her hitting skills with a triple in the 3rd. Ava McCracken and Marisa Perez got into the action with nice singles in the 4th inning. The Hornettes' solid pitching and defense left the Red Flames scoreless.

Central McDonald’s Lightning Thunder 2, Fiery Phoenix 5

The Central McDonald’s Lightning Thunders are steadily improving their game. Sydney Olken and Jadyn Apetz scored the two runs for the team. Graciella Basco and Abby Stoller had base hits. Tesla Stuart is refining her skill as a catcher.

M Zoe Couture Green Hornettes 9, Lauren's Closet Pink Socks 1

The Green Hornettes continued their impressive record with a solid showing against the Pink Socks. Adella Cho led the way with a double RBI to score the first run. Kylie Mesterhazy and Abby Briganti both had controlled pitching games and struck out several batters. The Hornettes were also a defensive force with excellent field play by Kayla Billetter and an exciting catch on a fly ball to first by Maddie Mersch to end the inning.

10U DIVISON

Encinal Market Blue Bullets 6, Gang Green 7

The Blue Bullets played hard, but came up just one run short in an exciting game against a strong Gang Green. The Bullets were hot at the plate with big hits and RBIs from Tiana Bullock, Lauren Gaughan, Alina Soto, and Madeline Roorda. Defensively, the girls were just as impressive with Carlin Shannon
fielding a hard-hit grounder and nabbing an unassisted force at 2nd. The real excitement came in the 4th inning with Tiana Bullock, Kaitlyn Ogata and Jackie Lim combining their powers for the first double play of the season.

Jane Watson-Edward Jones Frozen Fire 4, Law Offices of Paul F. Mahler Hornets 6

The Frozen Fire played an excellent game even though they lost. Maddie Turner and Nirina Parrish combined for a great out at third base on an attempted stolen base. Katie Ohno stepped in and pitched her first inning of softball. she recorded 2 strikeouts and made a great play to 1st for the last out of the
inning. Annika Stenstedt did a great job playing catcher for 2 innings. Megan Stiling and Ella Stiger each had an RBI in the game. The Frozen Fire continue to improve with each game. Sophia Piamonte continued her excellent pitching for the Hornets with 6 strikeouts.

12/14U DIVISION

Harbor Bay Realty Transformers 12, Oakland Green Flash 7

The U12-U14 Alameda Black and Blue Transformers won a hard fought game against the very motivated Oakland Green Flash by a score of 12 to 7. Estela Ambriz led the Transformers offense with three hits. Andrea Jasso added a sizzling single and an important RBI. The scoring continued with a booming
hit from Emani Vaughn that scored two of her teammates. Cheyanne Rios showed off her speed on the base paths and she too knocked in a run for the team. Catcher Margaret Pendo brought her steady presence and tenacity to the game as she helped anchor the solid Transformer defense.

Diamond Tool & Die Royal Riptide 12, Oakland’s Green Flash 5

The ladies of Royal Riptide dominated this home game, garnering 12 runs in the first six innings off the scoreless Green Flash. Led by pitching and catching teams Grace Oransky and Aubrey Guevara, and Beatrice
Levy and Sydney Williams, Riptide defense was tight and mostly infield. Aubrey Guevara, Sydney Williams, Valerie Zavala-Sheridan and Rebecca McEachern led the Riptide offense with two runs each. Kiley Carter (who caught several out at first base in defensive mode), Emily Dougherty, Nikkita Dwonch and Grace Oransky (providing strong and fluid fielding at third when not on the mound), scored runs, stealing bases at every opportunity to get home. The Green Flash rebounded with a rally at the top of the seventh inning, but it was not enough to catch the girls in blue.

Bay Area Children’s Theatre Black & Yellow Beastzz 10, Diamond Tool & Dye Royal Riptide 5

An April heat wave translated to hot Beastzz bats once again. Tabbi Compton ripped a big triple and Christine Warren legged out an inside-the-park homer. Stivaly Maldonado and Amanda Quezada each got hits and stole their way around the diamond. Great pitching from Mikayla Wong and Lily Wilmot beached the Riptide's bats to save the win.

Bay Area Children's Theatre Black & Yellow Beastzz 21, Oakland Flaming Phoenix 5

Beastzz came out swinging, and there wasn't much the visitors from Oakland could do to stop them. Alia Tinsley had a solid 2 RBI hit, Maura Willow smashed an RBI double, and Lily Wilmot belted a 3 RBI triple. Sammi Yescas scored a pair of runs as well, while playing solid defense. The Beastzz beastly bats knocked in 6 runs in both the 4th and 5th innings.

Alameda Orthopedic & Sports Therapy Green Hornets 0, Linda C. Avery Ph.D Explosion 13

Alameda Sports Therapy’s Green Hornets played hard in a 0-13 lose against the Explosions. Casse Lumpkin rifled a couple of exciting throws from third base to get runners out at first. The player achievement award went to Jemma Thorpe for her commanding pitches throughout most of the game, keeping the Explosion hits to a minimum.
