Alameda Little League: Game Reports through April 17

With nearly one thousand players, Alameda Little League is an Island institution. When the season kicked off on March 12, Alameda Patch contributor Jesse Sternburg caught the . Below are the game reports, submitted by parents and coaches, through April 17. (Last week's .)

Majors Division

Pontar Real Estate Management Rays (6) vs. European Wax Center A’s (3): Jacob Smith threw five scoreless innings, and delivered a bases-clearing hit in a pivotal fourth inning rally to lead the Rays past the A’s on April 16th.  The Rays’ defense sparkled after the A’s jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, with Sam Rawski and Devin Noonan coming up with run-saving plays to keep the game close. Brannen Elshire coaxed walks and used his speed to score key runs for the Rays, and Rawski’s bunt base hit set the stage for Smith’s blast to right.  Francisco Pedraza followed with an rbi single to plate Smith for the game’s final run.

Kyle Choy, Austin Stenstedt and Henry Canalin pitched solidly for the A’s, and Canalin also contributed at the plate, lining a double to the gap to pace the A’s attack.

AA Division

Pappo Bees (10)  vs. Law Offices of Robert J. Bezemek/Kabob Central Thunder (8): The game was played at Rittler Field on Monday April 11. For the Bees Ian Vanspyk lead off the second with a base hit. Seamus McGuiness had 6 strikeouts in the 3rd and 4th innings. Grady Florence kept a runner from stealing home with a play at the plate in 4th inning.

For the Thunder Kian Van De Meer had a double in the second inning.  Ezra Hammond stole second and scored in the 4th.  Nathan Dudley had a triple in  the 5th.

Stay Tooned Entertainment Mud Hens (13) vs. Law Offices of Robert J. Bezemik and Kabob Central Thunder (7): Stellar defense and pitching won the game for the Mud Hens, who won their second game in a row after dropping four straight to start the season.  Qorey Cecaci-Gilliam and Nolan Hughes were dominant on the mound for the surging Hens, with offensive fireworks by Chauncey Villagrana and game ball-winner Sam Walther sealing the deal for the winning squad.

For the Thunder, Logan Carnerie, Dallas Rider and Keelan Good had good days at the plate.  The loss gives them three for the year to go with five wins. 

Tomatina Hot Rods (8) vs. Harvest Food Products (6): Saturday, April 16, Hot Rod Lucky 21, Jonathon Atasses, socked a double to center field, knocking in 2 runs.  Jake Beales and Nicholas Ferry both had pivotal 6th inning hits to lead the Hot Rods to the win.

For the Storm, Kyle Arndt cracked a 2nd inning inside the park homer, Orion Ho doubled and scored, and Christian Collins turned a double play, as pitcher, catching a pop up and doubling a runner off 1st base.

A Division 

Neilson Electric Sand Nats (6)  vs  The UPS Store Owlz  (1): The Sand Nats scored 5 runs in the 1st inning, on April 9. Adam Hoepker, Etahn Tien, Thomas David, Sam Bilstein Justin Wong all came across the plate once. Wong scored twice.

For the Owlz, Gabe Rubio got 2 hits.  Landon Marsh, Nathan Connick & Nat Remmers all got hits.  The Owlz managed to get 1 run in the 4th inning.

Fruitti Yogii Muckdogs 10, Ironbirds 9: Jerick Griego slammed a double to drive in the winning run for the ‘Dogs on April 13.  Jacob Price hit three singles and scored three runs while Pete Celaya added a double and a single.  Brendan Cook, William Norboe, and Adam Krainer made two key outs each to keep the score close.  

For the Ironbirds, Sam Yep and Nate Stackler played strong defense while Yep and Stackler combined with Scott Kelly, Michael Shih, and Micah Stamps for fifteen hits.

Farm Division

Littler Mendelson Dodgers vs. Allied Administrators White Sox: The Littler Mendelson Dodgers hosted the Allied Administrators White Sox on a beautiful Sunday afternoon on April 17.  Offensively, the White Sox were led by Turean Bowman Jr.,  who crushed a double and then came back to make a great play at third for an out.  The White Sox made several other key defensive stops, including heads-up plays by Kayla Billetter and Ja'dan Bowman for outs.  The Dodgers’ Jay Khadder made several plays at third base and Preston DeCourcy made a key stop on a shot at short.  Zachary Hayward and Jaeden Patterson-Golay added RBI hits in the fourth inning.
