Alameda Little League Game Reports through March 11

The warm California sun greeted opening day and a weekend full of games.

 

AAA Division

Big O Tires Pawsox 7, Bladium River Bandits 6

Jake Avellar pitched three scoreless innings for the Pawsox and Ari Chertock and Andrew Taira had three runs each. Mathew Hui hit a solo home run.

For the River Bandits, Augie Tautalatasi made a diving, backhand catch at third and Joe Boyden hit a home run. Zack Karch reached base three times and scored two runs.

Thirsty Bear Brewing Co Red Wings 3, Power Engineering Construction Threshers 7

Spencer Kao singled twice and had two solid innings on the mound for the Red Wings. Brandon Wong had a key double and Sam Silberstein connected at the plate and had an unassisted double play at first.

For the Threshers, great pitching by Richie Be, Joe Gibbons and Joe DePinna. Michael Narensky had an in-the-park homer and Wylie Jordan had a nice snag in the outfield. Tomas Dumont hit 2 for 3 and Jordan Givens scored 2 runs.

Litho Process Hooks 14, Stars 1

KW Quilici allowed no runs and struck out nine for the Hooks on March 10.  Max Nyrop tripled and singled. Auden Conway and Hai Huynh each scored three runs

For the Stars, LJ Rose doubled and scored. Nathan Dudley singled. Tor Angstadt struck out five in two innings.

Sinead Smyth L.M.S.T Bees 13, D20 River Cats 10

For the Bees, Dallas Rider, started off the inning with a home run. Andrew Tandoc and Keylan Good also had a home run each. Pitcher Hadi Shanaa pitched for three innings for the Bees.

For the River Cats, Nicholas Demmler had a RBI, which tied the score with the Bees at 5-5. Oscar Knox White had 2 RBIs and a delayed steal to home, bringing up their score to 10.

 

AA Division

MXL Commercial Construction Bats 16, TEC Electric Mudhens 4

Together, Griff Loughran and Jacob Price allowed only two hits and no runs in the first four innings of play. Cooper Boyle doubled to drive in two runs while Leo Miranda doubled to drive in three runs for the Bats. 

For the Mudhens, Michael Wong struck out five batters while Jerick Griego struck out three. Dima Gilchrist batted a run in while Ben Villanueva, Daniel Wolfe, and Dylan Manabat each stole home.   

Encinal Market Bulls 11, Knights 3

The Bulls’ Jameson Hoy, Zach Hester, Dylan Williams, Makaio Shea, and Dylan Corona each had RBI’s on March 11. Shane Connolly struck out three and allowed one hit.

For the Knights, Derek Balaian brought in Sam Yep for Derek’s first of two RBI’s. Jason Cibull allowed only one hit and struck out four in two innings. Sam Yep made an impressive out in right.

Pearl's Deluxe Burgers Riverdogs 14, St. Joseph's Notre Dame High School/Maus Dental Group Thunder 9:

Riverdogs pitchers Daniel Choi, Eugene Gardner and Landon Marsh combined to record 12 strike outs, with each allowing only three runs. Rebecca Lagerwey and Vido Ramos both hit balls sharply up the middle, scoring multiple runs for the Riverdogs. Daniel Choi made an unassisted double play.

For the Thunder, Austin Novoa pitched a perfect inning, striking out all three batters he faced. Nate Stackler singled and stole multiple bases, and Evan Hesse stole home, sliding under the tag by the catcher.

Rock Hounds 0 vs Storm 6

The Storm, behind the pitching of Justin Leung, Harry Gleicher, Dante Pardo and Miles Smit — and timely hitting by Brandon Lim and Ranen Chang — defeated the Rock Hounds. 

The Rock hounds were led by Ben Ratto with a solid line-drive catch and Zackary Aman with nifty glove work at second base while James Freeman had a solid pitching outing.

 

A Division

Pacific Pinball Grasshoppers 4, Sand Gnats 3

Taniela Moli, Nate King and Joshua Blackman each had 3 hits for the Grasshoppers. Dylan Good and Riley King had 2 hits and Hugh Saulsbury drove in the winning run.

For the Sand Gnats, Cameron Lee had 2 hits, including a huge triple for 3 RBIs. Kyle Long, Sam Peterson, Tommy Igo, Brian Darnell and Thomas Cooke each had one hit.

Roughing It Day Camp Volcanoes 13, Dr. Parker Orthodontics Muck Dogs 9

In the season opener March 11, Devon Casias hit a triple and registered a put-out at first. Robert Lebbert had a pair of doubles for the Volcanoes. Ryan Chang caught an inning-ending fly ball, and Owen DeCourcy relayed an infield hit to Zachary Hayward for an out at first. 

For the Muck Dogs, Jacob Goodman had a base hit and made a solid defensive contribution to the game. Nicholas Robertson had two hits and Jacob Palacio played clutch defense.

Stem to Stern Scrappers 7, Iron Birds 4

On Saturday, March 10  Scottie Rapposelli and Tommy Soderlund each had RBI doubles for the Scrappers and Jack Gille started a three-run rally in the third inning. Ricky Soderlund made a great play at first late in the game.

Johnny Nieters led the Iron Birds with three hits (two singles and a double).  Veronica McComas, Campbell Walter and Rahul Sharma each had two hits and greatly contributed to the six inning three run rally.
