Alameda Backyard Growers "Find A Fruit Tree" Walk/Bike Tour

Rain or shine event sponsored by Alameda Backyard Growers (ABG) for the Alameda Fruit Gleaning Initiative.

Help ABG locate productive fruit trees by walking, biking, or driving around the island with friends, family, and other ABG members. "Fruit Finder" volunteers will log basic tree data on a simple form which will enable the Alameda Fruit Gleaning Initiative team to map tree locations and follow up with tree owners. Light refreshments will be available as well as raffle prizes.

10:00 - 10:30 AM...Gather at Franklin Park for coffee and conversation, organize into "Fruit Finder" teams

10:30 - 11:45 AM...Participants walk, ride, or drive to their designated neighborhood(s) to look for fruit trees and log information about trees on their "Fruit Finder" forms

11:45 AM...Reconvene at Franklin Park, hand in "Fruit Finder" forms and get raffle tickets, chat and swap stories

12:00 PM...Raffle off prizes and adjourn

The Alameda Fruit Gleaning Initiative encourages Alameda residents to donate unused fruit from their fruit trees to the Alameda Food Bank. ABG volunteers (fruit gleaners) are available to pick and drop off fruit by request. (Learn more at http://www.alamedabackyardgrowers.org/Fruit_Gleaning.html.)
