Alameda's St. Joseph Notre Dame High School cross country runners posted three of the five fastest times for Division V boys in the NCS (North Coast Section) championships Saturday.
Senior Gabe Arias-Sheride had the second fastest time, 15:03 minutes for the three-mile course. Juniors Michael and Matthew Murphy placed fourth and fifth respectively at 15:30.
Trevor Reinhart of Marin Academy won the division with a time of 14:44.
ARias-Sheride, the Murphys and teammate Cooper Teare (ninth grade, 15:31) were among the top 20 across all divisions, with more than 600 runners competing.
The fastest time across all divisions was posted by the Division I winner, senior Blair Hurlock of De La Salle High School, at 14:29.5
Girls' Volleyball
The SJND girls' volleyball team lost the closed contested Division V championship Saturday night to the Branson School (25-13, 25-22, 21-25, 25-17).
